H-how did I not see this before?
Don't know if you use Tumblr but there's a blog on there dedicated to Mario and updates a fair amount of fan art. You've been featured several times!
Somehow that was the only way I found out about this but it's pretty perfect! I have no shame in admitting how much I love the SMB film but it would have been great if they'd adapted more characters "properly" like this.

So how do you feel about Miyamoto admitting that the Koopalings aren't even Bowser's kin? People were pretty outraged at that one...

Outrage all you want, his character, his story, he can do what he wants. They ARE still Koopas, so they still worship Bowser as their patriarch. And all he ever said was they're not his kids. They may have some other link to Bowser beyond minion-hood. Not like the whole 'children' idea was really explored much after Super Mario Bros. 3. As soon as Super Mario World the Japanese manual stopped calling them his kids. Miyamoto's just confirming a retcon that happened a decade ago.

Nice humanized takes on them. Y'know, I do kinda wonder what it'd be like if they had the Koopalings in that movie.
(The character "Iggy" was only named after a Koopaling, so he doesn't count as one.)
